This isn't optional. Nova Scotia's fire code requires kitchen exhaust systems to be maintained to NFPA 96, and municipal sewer bylaws require working grease traps. Falling behind risks fines, failed inspections, voided insurance — and kitchen fires. Every Grease Gone visit ends with the paperwork that proves you're covered.

Three Services.
One Monthly Bill.

Everything your commercial kitchen needs to stay compliant, safe, and running clean — handled by one local technician who knows your kitchen.

Nova Scotia Tax Advantage — Your Real Cost Is Lower

Commercial kitchen cleaning is a fully deductible business expense under CRA guidelines. That means every dollar you spend on Grease Gone reduces your taxable income.

HST Input Tax Credit

HST-registered businesses recover 100% of the 14% HST paid on our invoices as an input tax credit — effectively eliminating HST from your cost.

Business Expense Deduction

The service fee itself is deducted from your business income before tax is calculated. At a combined rate of ~12–27%, this meaningfully reduces your net cost.

Example: Full Kitchen Care Plan

$425/mo sticker price → recover $59.50/mo in HST credits → deduct $425 from taxable income → effective after-tax cost as low as $310–$375/mo depending on your tax rate.

Consult your accountant to confirm treatment for your specific situation. This is general information, not tax advice.

Straight Answers.

The questions every kitchen owner asks — answered without the runaround.

Is this actually required by law?
Yes. Nova Scotia's fire code requires commercial kitchen exhaust systems to be inspected and cleaned to the NFPA 96 standard, and municipal sewer bylaws require food establishments to maintain working grease traps. It's not a nice-to-have — an out-of-compliance kitchen risks fines, a failed inspection, and an insurer denying a fire claim.
How often does my grease trap actually need pumping?
The industry standard is the 25% rule — a trap should be pumped before grease and solids fill a quarter of its depth. How fast that happens depends on your trap size and how much you fry. Our monthly service keeps you comfortably inside the rule year-round, with the levels measured and logged at every visit so you can prove it.
How often does the hood need cleaning?
NFPA 96 sets the frequency by cooking volume — busy, fry-heavy kitchens need it roughly quarterly, moderate kitchens semi-annually, and low-volume operations annually. During the free walkthrough we assess your cooking volume and build the cleaning schedule your kitchen actually needs to stay compliant.
What happens when the inspector shows up?
You hand them the binder. Every visit leaves behind a signed inspection report, a compliance certificate, timestamped before-and-after photos, and an updated service history. That's the whole point — your compliance is documented before anyone asks.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Every plan is month-to-month — cancel any time with 30 days notice, no cancellation fee, no setup fee. We'd rather earn your business every month than trap you in a contract.
What does it really cost after tax?
Less than the sticker. Kitchen cleaning is a fully deductible business expense, and HST-registered businesses recover the 14% HST as an input tax credit. On the $425 plan, the effective after-tax cost typically works out to $310–$375/month depending on your tax rate. Ask your accountant — and ask us for the math.
